"Armenian Girls" is a series of pastel drawings by artist Lusine Tumanyan, based on historical photographs of Armenian girls and women of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The author found photographs in archives, libraries, books and catalogs. Behind each of the 15 images there is a difficult fate (slavery, persecution, death of loved ones from genocide and war), but all of them are Armenian women, proudly looking at us, dressed in their national costume or its interpretation. The artist's goal was to convey the image of the heroine, to remind us of the hardships that Armenians experienced at the beginning of the century, but also to decoratively transform black and white photographs into bright pastels, adding colors to ornaments, fabrics, jewelry and clothes. And we have collected all the pastels and combined them into a set of postcards on decorative cardboard.
