This adventure novel by Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson was first published in 1883. It tells the story of Jim Hawkins, who unexpectedly finds himself drawn into a world of piracy after discovering a treasure map hidden by Captain Flint on a desert island.
The novel consists of thirty-four chapters, divided into six parts. The story is told from the perspective of the protagonist, young Jim Hawkins, the son of a tavern owner (except for chapters 16-18, where the narrator is Dr. Leeves).
The events of the novel take place approximately in the mid-18th century. They begin in southwest England, near Bristol, in a small seaside tavern called the Admiral Benbow.
