A solar-powered helicopter, considered a scientific and educational construction toy, is designed to introduce children to renewable energy sources.

The toy has a small solar panel. Direct sunlight or a powerful lamp transfers energy to the motor, causing the helicopter's blades to spin. It operates at maximum power only in direct sunlight. For home testing, a halogen lamp of at least 100 watts is recommended.

The model does not fly; only the blades rotate: This helps understand how light is converted into electricity and movement. Electricity is supplied to the helicopter's electric motor through two wires extending from the panel. It has no battery and operates only in the presence of real light. Once the light goes out, the blades will stop.
